Copper Triangle- the Alpine Classic

Cycling season is now in full spin. And for those of you who have been watching The Tour de France, you may be inspired to challenge yourself and test your abilities on the bike. Colorado’s classic alpine race is coming up soon. This 78-mile loop takes place on Saturday, August 6th.

Cyclists will begin and end their ride in Copper Mountain resort.  Riders will pass three ski areas along the route.  After riding over Fremont, Tennessee, and Vail pass, bikers will gain almost 6,000 feet in elevation. This could be one of the most challenging day rides in the Colorado mountains, and some of the most breath-taking views as well.

If you’re looking for a challenge and want to join a fun, supportive team to ride with, Team Project ReCycle is your team.  There is a strong camaraderie with Team PR and they will push you to your personal best. Also, by joining the team you help support Project ReCycle and are giving back to young children and the community. Membership includes a team jersey, discounts to events and entry fees, organized team rides, and monthly team member social events. If you’re interested check out and sign up now.

Copper Triangle offers some stunning scenery and a few notable landmarks as well.  Cyclists will pedal past historic mining outposts and Camp Hale- the 10th Mountain Division training ground.

After the riders experience all of the beauty and challenges of this amazing ride and are tired of being in the saddle all day, there will be the Alpine Celebration waiting for them back in Copper Mountain. This year’s celebration promises a delicious Italian lunch, music, prize drawings, and a cycling expo. Family and friends are welcome to come to the party and celebrate the cyclist’s hard work and efforts. It will be a fun time for all in this charming mountain town.
